Why should I choose the Tempest Freerunning Academy?

Here at the Academy we live for freerunning. Our coaches are real, working, freerunning professionals with years of training and experience in film, TV and live events. Freerunning has not only changed our way of looking at the world, but also how we look at ourselves. Through this incredible form of movement we have been able to literally create a path in life that we are dedicated to following. By learning how to overcome obstacles in your environment we know you will also learn how to overcome the stresses and speed bumps of everyday life. Hopefully you get as addicted to this fantastic sport/lifestyle as we are.

What should I wear to class?

Comfortable workout clothes that you can really move in are the best. Sweat pants and t-shirts should work just fine. Make sure you aren’t wearing restrictive clothes or any jewelry, as we want you to be able to move and not have to worry about anything other than your training. GYM SHOES ONLY PLEASE! We would appreciate you not wearing the same shoes you wear outdoors in order to help keep our equipment in good shape.

I’m a minor. What do I need to bring with me so I can train?

All minors (17 and under) must have an online waiver completed by parent or legal guardian before using the facility. Photo ID of parent/guardian will be required at time of entry. Photocopies are acceptable.

A separate waiver is required for each location****

Is Freerunning safe?

Tempest Freerunning Academy offers one of the most realistic environments for children and young adults to try their hand at learning the ropes of freerunning and parkour. Freerunning and parkour are activities that are inherently dangerous. Through proper training and safety measures these dangers can be substantially minimized and even avoided. Here at the Academy we guarantee that our coaches keep safety in mind before any other aspect of training, and we also teach kids to respect themselves and their surroundings so that they always practice safe and healthy training methods.

What if I’ve never worked out before?

That’s totally cool with us. All you need is a pair of shoes. Freerunning is all about finding your own way, and if we can work hard, so can you. We’ll make sure to start you off at the right place so you can improve at your own pace – with some nudges from our coaches, of course.

Aren’t freerunning and parkour the same thing?

Not really. Although freerunning originated from parkour, today, they’re totally different practices. Parkour focuses on efficiency of movement – getting from point A to point B in the most efficient way possible. Freerunning is about the freedom of movement to create an aesthetically pleasing journey that involves acrobatics and other tricks. At the Academy you’ll learn about both!
